READ BELOW FOR MORE INFORMATION AND APPLICATION FORMS

In early 2008 The Clare Fund Board announced an exciting new format showcasing Centre County high school artists vying for post high school scholarships. On April 28, 2008 we hosted WE'VE GOT TALENT featuring these talented young people. Because of its success, we plan to hold a similar event in April 2009.

Applying for a Clare Dahlia Snetsinger Art Award of Excellence in the Visual or Performing Arts

The Clare Fund, Inc. sponsors two scholarship series for talented 11th and 12th grade students in Centre County. Named in memory of Clare Dahlia Snetsinger, one is for the visual arts and the other is for the performing arts (excluding musicians who are solely instrumentalists).

Although the scholarships recognize Centre County 11th and 12th grade students with a strong and continuing interest in the arts, it is not necessary to plan on a post-high school career as an artist or performer to be considered for these scholarship awards.

Below are descriptions of each of these opportunities and guidelines for applying.

Visual Arts Scholarships

Applicants for visual arts scholarships are asked to submit a portfolio of 3 to 5 pieces in their choice of media along with their applications. All Centre County high school art teachers are sent information about the scholarships and may be able to guide applicants in preparing their portfolio.

The portfolio must be submitted along with a completed application form and a description of intent on the day and place indicated on the application form.

An independent panel of judges with professional experience in the visual arts then evaluates the submitted works and makes final decisions regarding scholarship awards.

Performing Arts Scholarships

Qualified applicants in the performing arts have an opportunity to perform before a distinguished panel of judges with professional experience in dance, drama and musical theater. These judges make the final decision regarding scholarship awards.

All Centre County high school theater and music teachers are sent information about the scholarships and may be able to guide applicants in preparing their portfolio.
