Applying for a Clare Dahlia Snetsinger Award of Excellence in the Visual or Performing Arts

DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS IS MONDAY, APRIL 19, 2010

The Clare Fund, Inc. sponsors two scholarships series for artistically talented 11th and 12th grade students in Centre County. Named in memory of Clare Dahlia Snetsinger, one is for the visual arts and the other is for the performing arts (excluding musicians who are solely instrumentalists).

The scholarship competition is open to all 11th and 12th grade students attending public or private schools or being home schooled in Centre County who have a strong and continuing interest in the arts.  However, it is not necessary to plan on a post-high school career as an artist or performer to be considered for these scholarship awards.  Below are descriptions of each scholarship series and guidelines for applying.

Visual Arts Scholarships

Applicants for visual arts scholarships are asked to submit a digital photograph for each of five (5) works of art in their choice of media.  To be considered, all photos and a completed application form must be submitted by the April 19 deadline.

All Centre County high school art teachers are sent information about the scholarships and may be able to guide applicants in preparing their applications.  An independent panel of distinguished judges with professional experience in the visual arts will evaluate the submitted works and the application information and make final decisions regarding scholarship awards.

The video and a completed application form must be submitted by the April 19 deadline.

All Centre County high school theater teachers and dance schools are sent information about the scholarships and may be able to guide applicants in preparing their materials for submission.  An independent panel of distinguished judges with professional experience in dance, drama and musical theater will evaluate the submitted performances and the application information and make final decisions regarding scholarship awards.
